yeah, was thinking the same about the lack of notifications....ah, simpler times
I actually checked the forums every couple of days in March and April and now forgot again until you hit me up on FB mess.
I mean, I still like the concept of forums but this * only works when there's at least a couple of dozen active forumers
I mean I could pm FF I guess but donno, kinda defeats the purpose.
Also this little corner of internet history kinda allows me to relive my internet childhood and still act like a complete moron.
On FB it just doesn't feel right. Also there you have most of your life on display.

Lastly, and probably honestly at this point the most important hurdle for me being active and regular, is the fact that all my socials and news feeds and * nowadays give me notifications when someone replies, when someone posts something new... The forum index almost seems a little archaic in a way, in that I have to physically come log in to see if Baka replied to me. On reddit I just get a push. Back in the day I'd literally sit on this forum for hours on end on dialup, waiting to spam my next spam as soon as someone made a comment. As an adult I wish I could say I had that kind of time, and if I did I wish I could say I would spend it on more productive things.

So, I looked into this a bit. Seems there is an archaic method for notifications, but through email, and you have to manually set them for every individual forum and thread you want notifications on.
1. On the main board, click the "Notification" bell on the top right near the PMs and user dropdown menu. Click "Settings". Make sure "Someone creates a topic in a forum to which you are subscribed" and "Someone replies to a topic to which you are subscribed" are set to email. Optional - "Someone replies to a topic you have bookmarked" Bookmark and Subscribe seem to be similar, idk what is different, but you can set it to Email as well.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the specific forum you want to subscribe to (Intros, Chit Chat, etc.) and next to "Board Index" is "Subscribe Forum". Click that, and if someone posts a
NEW thread, you should get an email (untested).
3. Go to an existing thread, and at the top left next to "Post Reply" is a wrench. Click it, and you have options to Subscribe and Bookmark. Boom, new posts should email you (untested).

Yeah it keeps the amount of auto generated email spam down. It will only email you when you want it to
Forums are old things but they work well

They're great in function but internet 2.0 gave everyone much more intuitive software/hardware integration, I suppose. There's a reason reddit works though, it stays true to form and is a 2.0 version of a message board as far as I can tell. These have become a lot more niche... Or they were always niche and the internet has become a lot less niche, I'm not sure which haha.
